The Organisation
The North East Victorian Regional Waste Management Group (NevRwaste) is one of thirteen state regional waste management bodies, we operate in partnership with local and state authorities to implement the state’s solid waste management and resource efficiency programs in North East Victoria.
NevRwaste operates in partnership with the Environment Protection Authority, Sustainability Victoria and local authorities and through its Regional Waste Management Plan, Business Plan and Regional Education Strategy NevRwaste works directly with the community and through the local authorities of Alpine, Benalla, Indigo, Mansfield, Towong, Wangaratta and Wodonga Councils, together with Falls Creek, Mt Hotham and Mt Buller/Stirling Alpine Resorts, to implement education and infrastructure programs designed to minimise the creation of waste and litter; promote the sustainable use of resources; and, to better manage the disposal of residual materials.
In their waste planning and management role, NevRwaste’s members add value to regional initiatives through contracting, service delivery, and provision of infrastructure and facilities. They also assist NevRwaste to deliver education programs through events, schools, and organisations in local communities.
NevRwaste’s Management Committee (Board), which is composed of ten Director representing each of ten members, meet on five occasions in July, September, November, February and May in each financial year, with the Annual General Meeting held in February. Special Group Meetings are also held where deemed necessary to deal with urgent or unavoidable business matters.
In meeting its obligations under the Financial Management Compliance Framework NevRwaste has established a three person Audit Committee and has appointed an internal auditor to undertake internal activities and reporting to the Committee.
The Groups performance is formally reported in its annual report.
