SEED reaches over 500

SEED presentation St Bernards Benalla in May 09

Seven School Environment Education Directory (SEED) presentations were delivered across North East Victoria to assist local environment staff and teachers understand the State Government’s sustainability curriculum framework (ResourceSmart AuSSI Vic) and how (SEED) can provide environmental support to schools in the North East Victorian region.

To assist teachers have easy access to this information the presentation travelled around the north east to Beechworth, Bright, Mansfield, Tallangatta, Wangaratta and Wodonga.

“It is inspiring to hear how hands-on many of our schools are with environmental sustainability” says Karen Jones SEED Project Manager, “the next steps for schools is to integrate these achievements into their curriculum and the ResourceSmart AuSSI Vic framework is a great way to achieve this’.

SEED plays an important role in providing the support to empower teachers and principals to deliver environmental sustainability into curriculum and classroom. SEED provides a one-stop- shop of environmental sustainability information and support for schools in North East Victoria on behalf of many environmental agencies including the Department of Sustainability and Environment, the Department of Primary Industries, local government, the North East Greenhouse Alliance, the North East Catchment Management Authority, NevRwaste and North East Water.
